Why you should do this course
Fire Safety Training and Evacuation is not only required by law but it is vital that you understand your workplace procedure for raising the alarm, the use of the fire-fighting equipment and evacuation of the building.
- At each position that you hold you must make sure you know what to do in the event of a fire or other emergency. You must have evacuation training within 2 days of employment and then annually so you understand emergency procedures, including evacuation instructions, assembly point locations and use of fire alarms and equipment.
- Then within 30 days of employment, you must complete First Response Training (Fire Extinguisher Training), then re-train in this every 2 years.
- You employer as a business owner or manager occupying a building in Queensland has a legal obligation to ensure the safety of any person in that building in the event of a fire or other emergency. It is also a legal requirement that you practice an evacuation annually as part of your training.
